hi all is any one else having trouble finding a calor dealer that has the calor lites in stock tried several around doncaster area and they come up with the same reply calor can not supply have no emptys to fill ie customers are not returning them. well you would only return if you needed a refil i guess there are not enough in the suppy chain. how can you get empty ones to fill if no full ones. could do with a filling plant so you could take yours and get it filled. i would not like to loose my lite by exchanging for a standard one thats what the dealers seem to be offering malc
Have you not got a GO-Outdoors near you ?They exchange them for £19 for 6kg.
I changed my 2x standard Calor 6 kg for 2x Calor -lite last week.they had plenty, trouble is i'm in Essex.
Andy.
Your nearest store is Sheffield, and then Hathersage

If thieves are going to steel gas bottles the last ones they will take will be Lite bottles as they steel content is way lower than the conventional bottles. Speaking to my local plod last year he said it was the large 18kg+ bottles that were being stolen for scrap and the 13kg bottles for wood burning stoves. I notice Calor don't give a breakdown of types 'missing' but from the figures they give is is less than one in sixty bottles that the distribute each year and that could simply be a result of their crazy deposit system that does not encourage people to return bottles no longer required.
All the caravan dealers I have been to recently have a reasonable stock of Lite bottles and as Calors aim is to supply them only to the caravan/motorhome market it may be that many of the other stockists simply do not carry them as part of their business and therefore find it difficult to supply them. The empty cage at most Calor suppliers seem to have plenty of bottles in them so maybe if Calor are short of bottles they should collect the empties a bit more frequently or even give a reward for the return of bottles no longer required.

Its up to Calor to produce more Lite bottles, if there are not enough in the system then there will be shortages. It depends on Calor's ongoing commitment to Lite bottles, its purely a business decision.
I have gathered a few cylinders over the years. If Calor gave a receipt for a returned cylinder entitling the holder to a free replacement I would happily return empties but as I sometimes want a lite and sometimes a standard I hold on to my "spares". Crazy I have to do that but Calor don't return the original deposit in full and after a while you get nothing back so can you blame folk for holding them?
The official Calor stockist near me had none the last time I wanted a refill, I got one from a Caravan Club site. They seem as difficult to get hold of as rocking horse droppings.
It's amazing how many you see dumped in laybys etc.
I had just purchased one last year when I spotted on in the hedge row.
Stopped, picked it up and 3 weeks later, took it back to the store where I had just purchased one and got my deposit back, yet I still have my cylinder!
