Hi
Does anyone know of a Sat Nav App for Caravan Towing. I know there are lots of Sat Nav Apps coming online these days for Smart Phones but wondered if any are up and running for towing.

Do a search - lots of threads on this subject before.

Basically, there is the Snooper and a few truck-specific units but they're very expensive (£300+) and, IMO, of dubious worth as they merely warn of low bridges and those width restriction barriers you very rarely come across.

EDIT: just realised, you said 'app' - are you talking about just for a phone? If so, I use CoPilot on my phone - £35 for all of western Europe and has an RV mode, where you can specify your speed on certain road types. So, I've set my speed to 1mph on smaller roads so when it routes, it desperately tries to keep me off those roads - just what you want for towing

I can recommend NavFree which is available for IOS and Android. It has a setting for "Truck / RV" which will avoid weight limits, low bridges and narrow roads. It may be a little overkill for a caravan in so much as it will avoid low bridges that you could get under but it won't lead you into trouble like some do.

It's other advantages are that it's free and if you are paying for your data usage or have limited data it will download the maps to a memory card unlike some that download the maps as you travel which means if you lose your mobile signal it will continue to work. The downside is that you will need a decent size memory card in your smart phone. The UK maps alone are the best part of 1 GB; if you want the continental maps then they are well over 1 GB per country.

The maps are regularly updated too.

if a member of the caravan club they do one you can download,(dont know how) do a  search on CClub.if you manage it  tell me how as i have a sat nav.i am a member.

Thanks for the answer I will try a NavFree and perhaps invest in a bigger memory card. Michelin web site is reasonable but as you say it only slows things down. Any more recommendations are more then welcome.
