We went to the show at the nec yesterday just to have a look around, first mistake because you never just have a look do you??.
We had a look at all the vans but came away with it all a blur,so today went to the dealer for another "look" and have came away having purchased a brand new Bailey Pegasus Bologna, they have done us a show deal and a good price for the coachman in px turned out to be a expensive look again Does anyone have one of these??
That's really weird I went to the show yesterday with my husband and then went to look at caravans today as well and brought a new Bailey Pegasus Bologna. How weird.... Oh sorry you are my husband and we have just brought the best caravan in the whole wide world and we will be having many many fabulous wonderful holidays in it and you will be able to put tons and tons of lager in our shiny new big fridge woo hoo
We went and were taken by a glossops special edition elddis. We has a "chat" with the salesman with a welcome cuppa, but the numbers didn't make us fall out of love with out Europa enough to open the cheque book. Love the new Pegasus GT65s too.
Congratulations! I think we will trading up/in in the next year. We love our van with its generous kitchen, separate shower bunks to rear etc but its trade in value will probably begin to noticeably drop as it gets older so will need to think about our next move as it was always our plan to change van every few years and as our needs change with kids ages.
Changing a Coachman for a Bailey, hope you're not too disappointed with it.
When e changed our caravan we looked at most makes (with our clothes on, see Adria thread) and found the one thing that stood out on the Bailey is how flimsy every thing felt and the finishing touches that we felt it lacked.
The Coachman was the complete opposite. Even 10 year old Coachman vans felt more solid than brand new Bailey's.
Like Fiona W1971 we are thinking of changing the van early next year. We had planned to go to have a look around on Saturday to get an idea of what was available now, but changed our minds on Saturday morning as thought I would wait for the October show at the NEC. It is the October show they will have the 2014 models, so could see little point of going and getting tempted to change now.
We quite like looking at the new caravans, but the shows are always so packed . . . All the vans these days have loads of funny switches on control boards, and that infernal electric burner on a gas hob.. . . we don`t do funny switches or electric cooker elements. We`re never tempted to buy, but one day our van will need changing . . .
------------- Peripheral people don`t have as much excitement but they sure live longer
I understand what your saying dave coaches but £££sss is what helps makes the decisions, when you are talking several thousand pounds and getting a layout you like you can't always stay loyal to a brand that you like. Our coachman has been a very good solid van but when we looked at the new ones we didn't like the style, colour, design of the interior or price!!!!......
You could have saved even more and stuck with what you had. I get a feeling that after a few trips back to the dealer for things to be put right you might regret it.
I hope I am wrong but I thought even 10 year old Coachman caravans felt more solid than the brand new Bailey's though the alutec construction was brand new at the time.
I say "Good for you". We went looking for a new tent and came away with a Lunar Clubman!!!!! Today we are off test driving a Vauxhall Antara as we don't have a car to tow the van!!!!!! Double expensive day out!
------------- Started with a motorbike and tent.......my gallery, my life.
We were very tempted to change our caravan a few years ago. We got talking to our local(ish) dealer at the NEC and he offered us more for out 17 year old caravan than we had paid for it 4 years previously on part exchange. It was only when we went outside to think about it we realised that we could have got the same caravan for less from other dealers, even without the part exchange so we decided this "unmissable deal" was in fact not so good after all and held out for another year before we bought our current caravan privately and saved a fortune.
