At the moment we have a Moove from Towsure but are fed up with poor reception since going over to digital. We get a lot of blocking and sound interruption.
We have an Avtex and as clever says pricey - well we would've liked to have paid less for it (we got it thanks to John Lewis vouchers friends and family got us xmas 2011) and its not freesat so can't help with signal issues. If you do get it I'd recommend getting it at JL if they have that model for their 5 yr warranty. To be honest there are probably better TVs out there for the price (we've just paid less for a brill 32" Samsung smart tv for our bedroom - ha same great friends and JL vouchers!!).
The Avtex is a good tv with very good sound for size, and dual voltage and as for screen being glass for £30ish you can get a case for it which we also have and use all the time for storage and travel. We have great picture and signal with ours and are very pleased with it, it's only used in caravan so will hopefully last a while!
P.s we use ours with our sky plus box from home and sat gear twin lnb satellite dish - which is brill, we enjoy the outdoors and catch up later on with what we have recorded!
We have the Avtex which came with the Bailey Caravan. Very pleased with it. Have had good digital reception everywhere we have been around the country. If we had to replace would have no hesitation to buy another.
If you have poor reception a new tv wont cure it.
once reception problems are sorted ANY digital tv will give you good service even ones half the price of the avtex
Alpiner's spot on, have you had anything checked to prove it's the TV giving the problem, or could you have an aerial issue?
I bumped into a guy complaining of similar recently, he didn't realise that you can have too good a signal too that will cause issue. Bypassing his amp gave him spot on reception.
Sometimes it's easy to overlook other possibilities.
We have an Avtex although not the one referred to by the OP. The fact that it comes with a 12v connector is very useful when the power goes off on a site as it did once during some maintenance that was on going. Reception has been excellent everywhere. Avtx, as a company, I have found to be excellent if you have a proble. During their warranty period they just get on with any repairs without charge, just accepting their responsibility - so arguments. They arrange to pick the TV up from your house and then return it to your door. So if you get one, keep the box just in case you need to post it to them.
Ours is out of warranty but the other month we had a problem and they arranged for the courier and fixed it. They charged for the job but let us off the courier charge which they didn't have to.

Avtex are very pricey, so its good to know that the company provide good service if there's a problem. Although maybe if they're that good there should be minimum after sales problems?
I think they are the only way to go if you are going to need to run your tv off 12v.
Otherwise, well, I went into John Lewis to buy one and the salesperson (a caravanner herself) advised me not to. Conventional modern tvs are so much cheaper and have excellent reception. Well, that's what she told me. I followed her advice and haven't regretted it.

There are many brands that run off 12v, so you're not stuck just with the (over priced) Avtex brand for non-EHU use; Meos, Visionplus and (budget) Kogan immediately come to mind, but a good number of smaller domestic sets are now designed to run via mains transformers and will operate from 12v with a suitable regulated lead.
we have an Avtex tv with freeview built in- the kids bought it for us when we got the van 7yrs ago, absolutley great tv. no probs what so ever. highly recommend. cheers gary
Kogan TV's run from a 12v supply, have a decent viewing angle, will pause/record (with a USB stick plugged in) and are way cheaper than the competition. I have one, as does a friend and we are both very happy with them.
I went through these same issues late last year. As we are ralliers the low power consumption on 12v was high on my prioity list. Well I eventually went for the 22" Cello. It has proved to be fantastic with only 1.6 amp draw on 12v. It also has freesat built in ready for when I buy the dish. I suggest you have a close look at these, they are not as expensive as Avtex and not as cheap as others.the 22" has a very small surroung making it a similar size to the 19" of other manufacturers. And reception has been good wherever I have used it.
