If the caravan axle is max 1000kg then caravan can be up plated to this weight. It will be safe to tow with suitable tow car. How did you weigh caravan? The only way to establish correct weight is to weigh caravan axle when hitched to car. Provided axle weighs no more than 750kg then you are legal. As pointed out. Way to go is just to get caravan up plated

A weight check will be done with axle weigher. Provided car & caravan axles are under their max limits then ok. Caravan will not be weighed separately from car.

Unfortunately that is just the way the caravan industry is.
I bought an Elddis Xplore 304, cant remember what the kerb weight was supposed to be, but after doing some research I found that because I was given the "plus pack" the weight was more than the advertised weight.
I was also told that these "plus packs" are pretty much considered standard (don't know why) luckily my car could still tow it, but it does seem strange to advertise one weight, knowing that its wrong.

Any caravan or trailer can be up plated to the max rating of axle which will be marked on the axle. So if Freedom caravan has 1tonne axle & is fitted with new plate on caravan marked as that then it can be up to 1 tonne on axle weigher when attached to tow vehicle.
One has to beware of uplating larger caravans in case extra weight requires driver to have B+E licence.
