So after waiting patiently to collect our lovely, brand spanking shiney new caravan, we now are eagerly anticipating the day! The dealers book us in for two nights on a local site in case of any problems. My question is, with more snow forecast do we take delivery? What happens if the heating doesn't work or there is a leak and it's the middle of the night? Or do we take delivery and just bring the van home to the storage place? Or do I sit on my hands and try my patience and wait till the weather is slightly warmer? What would you do?

personally i would wait another week or two .this weather has got to break soon ,and the chances of someone sliding into your van or even you losing control is not worth the risk .

I would get it, take the bare minimum for the 2nts, fan heater, water carrier, and tools and it will turn out great. IF you have probs your not far from getting it fixed.
Never change your plans because of a weather forecast. It will probably be totally different. We came back from Wales a week ago, nd were disappointed. It was snowing when we left, and we old ave liked more.
First run of the year I never certain. We carry a one gallon water bottle in case there's a leak, and a fan heater in case f heating problems. There's very little you can't cope with.
Caravanning in the now is very nice, just adds a bi to your journey times. Be careful, but go.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
If you are worried about it maybe caravaning is not for you, sorry but if after spending alot of hard earned cash i would wan't to use the van as much as possible no matter what the weather, a brand new van will be well equiped and insulated plus you have the back up from the dealer should there be any probs go and enjoy yourself..
Go for it. We were away in frost in October and sprang a water leak. Coped fine with a 5 litre bottle for drinks and used site facilities for showers etc. and we were 2 hours from home! Things can go wrong with vans at any time not just after you have bought them. Just take care if you are not used to towing. Our first trip with a van was in snow and we arrived to 4" lying on the pitch. Wardens were great and helped us out .
Thanks everyone, very re-assuring. We have all our camping gear and camp April to November, never thought to pack the fan heater.I think it will be a good bit of kit to keep in the van "for emergencies". Having said that if there is 6 inches of snow on the roads I may think twice. We have swapped to caravan from tent because of the all season opportunity to get away. We finally had to abhort plans for the first time last year, we don't mind the weather and love the challenge, have survived force 9 gales on a cliff top in Cornwall and also Table Mountain. But last year the ground was so muddy the pegs wouldn't hold.

If you're going local isn't the local dealer going to be around in case of problem anyway?
