New to caravaning!!! We filled the toilet as directed on the flush and waste bottles but we had a leak in the caravan and in where the cassette goes. I was thinking that I maybe I overfilled the flush tank. Does anyone know what the capacity is for a flush tank. Dunno what we did wrong any ideas??

Did you fill your flush tank before your trip or when you got to the site. If before your trip then when travelling it will leak over the floor. We normally put just the Pink fluid in the flush tank before we leave and then fill it up when we are on site. We have learnt the hard way to. Also when leaving the site to go home, pump any fluid out of the flush tank into the waste tank before you empty it to prevent a leak on the way home !!

The top flush tank is about the same capacity as the waste holding tank. This is because when you sterilise the top flush tank you then flush it out through the toilet which then goes straight into the bottom tank to which I have found it to be around the same size in volume.

We filled it when we got on site as I thought that was the best thing to do. When it leaked in the van it was blue (the cassette fluid) but where the cassette goes was pink, so I was very confused, I thought I have over filled it. I didn't put much in the flush as was unsure of the capacity

Did you add cold water to the pink flush as you only need about egg cup full of pink liquid due to the contents being a concentrated solution. The blue liquid for the casstte tank is also concentrated and only need to add a small amount of cold water.

The pink is for the flush, the blue is for the cassette. It sounds as if you have a leak from the flush if you filled it with the pink stuff ?
Take out the cassette and dry round it etc.Fill the flush with pink...i just fill it up till it over flows..then wait with the cassette out to see if it leaks..

You may also have a faulty cassette seal..thats the part on the cassette top which looks like a big rubber ring.In the middle of the picture..

Thanks for all the help. I have replaced the rubber ring/seal on the cassette and arranged to have the caravan serviced on wed. I mentioned the loo problem and he said he will have a good luck. Thanks again for all your help and advice

Not so for all types. The capacities of Thetford Cassette C-200 CW & C-200 CWE toilets are 7L for the flush tank and 15L for the holding tank.

Our old Coachman had the bench type C4 cassette toilet manual flush and our current one has the C-200 CW manual flush (the E at the end of the CWE means it's the same toilet but electrically operated by 12 volt power). The Thetford C4 is a different designed holding tank to that of the C-200 but the capacity of the flush tank is actually different. The flush tank is 7 litres and the holding tank 17 litres. See details of the Thetford C-200.

No, what I saying is that in my first post I said that the top and bottom tanks were the same capacity which I was completely wrong as after checking the facts they are actually different so it was a lesson for me too.
