New to caravan scene really, read loads but can't find this info.
Removed battery to charge, now charged and back in van, I've tested charger and seems fine. (2008 coachman atlantia/amara).
I'm leaving it on charge in caravan for next two weeks (we liveon a small caravan site) before our first venture over Easter. I've pulled the fuse out for fridge as that comes on automatically.
Do I leave the master switch on, for charging?
Other thing with master switch off I get 12v lights but voltmeter doesn't give me a reading, is this correct?
Thanks in advance.

cool, feel better now, does it need to be left on to charge though?

i thought the master switch was for the 12 volt system, with the master off all your 240 will work , but the 12 volt system won't, so i would leave the master on just in case.
sorry john if im wrong as i said in my previous post ours is a new battery and we never leave master switch on and the battery runs the alarm got to admit im not up on owt like that its the oh baby

My Coachman will charge the battery from EHU with the 12 volts switched off as the charger is connected to the battery side of the switch. If the charger were not connected to the battery side of the switch, the 12 volt electrics would be powered from the charger even when the system was turned off and thus would still work to a fashion although voltage fluctuations from the charger could damage the caravan electrics and power surges from the appliances could damage the charger.
I tend to leave my master switch on anyway so I can easily turn a light on when I enter the caravan, but I am connected to EHU on my drive 24/7 and also have a solar panel, so shouldn't have any issues with the battery going flat.
