Hi,
Hoping to buy our 1st caravan within the next week or two.
Is there any difference between the Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravan Club. Do they both offer the same thing and do I need join one of them or both?
No you don't NEED to join but there are benefits to being a member.
I am a member of both Clubs which gives me access to CS and CL sites which are small, 5 van sites for use by members only which offer some excellent value for money trips away (average about £10 per night with EHU) The C&CC also have Temporary Holiday Sites (THS) which again offer some excellent value breaks away. Both Clubs host rallies and meets for their members throughout the year which I really enjoy attending.
You can also get discounts on things like insurance and breakdown cover.
There are plenty of commercial and independent sites but using Club sites means you can expect a certain level of cleanliness in the wash blocks, good standard of facilities and wardens who will stick to things like the rules for keeping noise down after 11pm. Having wardens on site also offers people a level of security.
To me, it is worth the membership fee - plus each Club sends its members a monthly magazine which is worth a read!
Summed up well by Helen. All I would add, also being a member of both, is that if you have come from tenting and would enjoy mixed camping with "tenters" then the C&CC is probably the better option although some CC club sites admit tents.
C&CC have good caravan insurance, the cheapest we have found. Our renewal has just came in and only up a fiver on a new for old policy
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
C&CC have tents amongst the caravans and are noisy places as a result, their sites are less well maintained and many are just private sites paying to use the C&CC franchise so consistency is not their strong point. CC sites are much more consistent and you know what you're going to get before you arrive
CS and CL sites are very variable within both clubs
'C&CC have tents amongst the caravans and are noisy places as a result'
Not on any C&CC sites we have been on. Oh, and completely disagree about their sites not being maintained.

Are you saying that campers are noisier than caravanners? If you are I beg to differ!
I'm a member of both clubs. I'm in a trailer tent and have had both tents and a caravan in the past. The difference I would like to think you're trying to get across is perhaps there's more couples on CC sites and more family campers on C&CC sites and children do tend to make more noise, generally having fun. That's not to say that there aren't plenty of families with caravans, because there are.
In my experience caravanners can make plenty of noise as they stomp up and down the caravan, banging cupboard doors with the TV on (making a generalisation)!
I've not noticed a difference in site cleanliness between the two clubs, both have excellent facilities, well looked after. Both clubs have some strict rules to adhere to.
Which club if any is the one for you will depend greatly on what you want from the club so what is the right answer for one person is wrong for another.
I can't speak for the Caravan Club as I'm not a member but but the Caravan & Camping Club i can recommend. I only joined late last year but i have a couple of sites booked already and they have bent over backwards to help a newbie like me with booking and amendments. Also visited my local site to have a nosy round and the warden was really friendly and very helpful. I've found the same with everyone associated with the club so far so i'm impressed enough to bother with this reply
we are members of both and im afraid that we think CC the better re sites being looked after better in our mind. the C&cc do a reduced cost for over 60 s in off season so a saving on that one to us C&CC site seem a bit hit and miss re pitches and most do not seened to be marked and the wardens show you where to pitch . where as CC sites are all marked and you find your own pitch and just go and tell the wardens the number. its just a matter of chice why not try a site or two before you join most llow non members at little extra cost malc
Im a member of both clubs, the ccc in my opinion tend to give more discounts both for familys and over 55s,i recently booked 1 week at Canterbury and 1 week in Sussex, both ccc sites and they both cost £85 each with discounts. both cheaper than the nearest cc sites
Hi Markh1, dont know which C&CC sites you have been on but I know you have never been on any we have, and as for a franchised site we were on one for four nights and it was very very good in all respects, Barley Meadow at Dartmoor. Stayed there last year on our way to Newquay

On our only venture onto a CC site we didn't have a choice but were told the number and the wardens waited until we got there to make sure we pitched correctly.
