Not a place to go if you like peace and quiet on your rallies, Its a few years since we went to one, but over a thousand caravans lined up in fields with the minimum space between them and quite a bit of late night noise from the entertainment Marquees is not my Idea of fun. Lots of trade stands there, mobile catering units were very expensive to use, as was the Icecream man, at £2 for a small standard cone. We were lucky enough to get a fly past by the 'Red Arrows' and a Spitfire during the weekend, otherwise most of the entertainment was provided by a Disco and Band playing in a Marquee, the rest of it was geared at hard pressure sales by the stallholders and sponsors for most of the weekend.
The time we went the exit from the Rally was quite regimented, you simply could not leave when you liked, you were given a spot as 'the next one in line' as you arrived, and then the process was reversed when you left, you were given a time to be ready and hitched up for, and then you were marshalled to leave in convoy, in the same order that you arrived. Not so bad if your access times to your storage was very flexible at the other end, but some people were worried that they would not make the closing time to their storage area at the home end, especially if they had been a late arrival onto their pitch towards the rear of the field, and they had a fairly long journey ahead of them to get home.
