 Due to lack of use we are selling our car and caravan, seperately of course.  Caravan is going first.

Its on Ebay, gumtree and preloved.

Some bloke has offered to advertise it in a special caravan magazine for £140 but I think thats a bit excessive. 

Can anyone think of anywhere else I should advertise it?

I want to get rid but I'm not desperate for the money so I'm quite happy to hold out for the right price.  However, does anyone know what the right price is? How do I value a caravan?

What about your local shops and supermarkets and also local newspapers it is not too expensive.  The used to be a paper called Free Ads is that still going?

When we sold ours Ebay worked brilliantly, not as an auction but just a classified. We had loads, & I mean loads of intrest.

sounds a bit obvious but make sure you get the money before releasing your van. make sure any cash notes are real too,

We sold my parents-in-laws caravan on ebay and got them a fair price for it, that both the buyers and my parents-in-law found mutually acceptable.

Ebay has probably the greatest exposure in terms of the number of potential buyers who are likely to vew your pictures and description.... but just bear in mind that ebay has TWO types of adverts available.

First type is an auction, where people can bid to buy your caravan, and the highest bid is the price that the caravan sells for. Ebay makes a charge to list your advert (which varies depending on how many photos you use etc), and then they make another charge again when you sell your caravan (they take 10% of the highest bid price as the Final Value Fee). If your buyer then pays for the caravan through PayPal be aware that PayPal will take about another 2% as their fee. So basically, just be aware that you will not get the full amount that your caravan sells for after all the fees have been deducted. Work out the maths before deciding what you want your starting price to be.

Second type is a Classified listing, which is very similar to what you would put in a caravan magazine 'For Sale' section. There is a one-off ebay listing fee for this service - last time I looked it was £15. There is no bidding or Buy-It-Now for this type of listing, and interested buyers have to contact you by email or phone to arrange to view the caravan. The sale is conducted outside of ebay, just the same as if you had put an advert in a magazine. Ebay is basically providing an advert hosting service with this type of listing.
