Hi all, I've had mice in my caravan (luna planet Venus 1996) and found out they had chewed through the plastic grills in the floor, I have reinforced these with metal grills now and have no trace of mice for a few months.
The only way I could see they could possibly return is a very small gap around the fire, is it worth fitting a cowl of some kind under the van? or any other ideas please.
hi welshboy had mice in our van last year. when it was in storeage havin a chat with an old fashion ironmonger in dorset when on holiday in summer he recomened moth balls as anything with a nose cannot stand the smell,and so far so good sound investment from £1 shop happy hunting;

I was thinking of putting some metal mesh around the underside of the fire where is goes through the floor? didn't know if anyone else has had to do this?
Hi, all I can suggest is check the underside of your caravan with a torch and a pencil. If you can fit a pencil through a gap, a mouse can get through (6mm). Pay particular attention around the front locker-good luck.
We used to have a problem with mice when our caravan was in storage but we have used one of these battery operated rodent repellers for the last 3 years and it seems to have solved the problem. If you shop around you may be able to get them cheaper as I got mine off Ebay for £14.95.
But I did have mice and now I don't so I can only speak from experience that the sonic repeller worked for me. It's up to people to trust whether they work or not but if it does solve the problem it's worth the small investment to save a big one.
Your'e welcome but if you do get one of these repellers then please come back and let us know if it worked as some people say they do and some say they don't but whatever, make sure you leave nothing in your caravan that's an invitation for mice regarding food or bedding and that means cleaning up any tiny amounts bread or biscuit crumbs too. If it does work for YOU like it did for us then it will be a huge problem solved. I don't regret ever buying one at all.
We have left a small note on the floor stating 'No Mice' seems to have worked. No mice evident.
