Hi ,we are due to go to Durham from west yorkshire on Thursday till Monday. We are really unsure at the momment. We rung the site up in Durham last night, the guy said they had no snow at all.Has we are new to Caravaning we are really unsure has to what to do.The cold doesent really bother us too much,Its the towing getting they and back thats the issue.Whats other people planning this Easter.Like i said to go or not to go,any friendly advise would be very welcome.
Really it's down to your confidence level. I always go, some people never go. If you're new to it, the likelihood is that you don't have the experience to deal with problems. On the other hand there is no snow.
I would always say go, but I don't want to be responsible or getting you involved in something you can't handle.
Sorry, it's your call.
Jim

Thanks Greendemon think the main roads should be ok.like i said the colds not the issue its just the towing. We will keep a very close eye on the weather the next day or so and make a decision soon. Thanks again
A bad forecast is not a death sentence. If you do go, take it easy, stop and reassess at regular intervals, and be prepared to turn back if it gets too much for you.
It's always good to get outside your comfort zone, but not too far. As your experience increases, you will be able to do more.
I would say keep in touch with the site and see how the week develops. How near a main rpad is the site? I have just spoken to the site we are going to and feel very reassured.

We are going away Friday for the weekend, I am planning to go unless I get up Friday to a covering of snow on main roads. The forecast isn't that bad for the weekend. It is normal to feel a bit apprehensive before towing when you are new to caravanning but drive to the conditions and everything should be fine.

I am gutted we have had to cancel long weekend trip to Wiseman's Bridge, Saundersfoot as its too cold for our 2yo daughter. It was supposed to be our only trip this year as we have a baby due in June and dont fancy caravanning with newborn. I have exams to prepare for that I am sitting in June so wont be able to go away prior to baby's birth either. Will be selling the van now to save Insurance and Storage fees and look to purchase a newer caravan next year. :-(
