Is the cassette leaking or is the water coming from another source?

Try filling it pretty full with just clean water and leave it out of the van for a bit, then examine it for leaks to see if that is the culprit as it could be the flushing side that is defective. Lip seals (where the blade closes 7 seals the box) are a common source of problems especially when they have not being used for a while.

All good advice above. You don't say what make/model/year of van you have but a lot of the Thetford C250 range had problems with frost damage to the flush pump, the way it was plumbed in meant that there was always a bit of water trapped in the system, if froze and split the pump. There is a free mod available plus they admitted fault and issued free pumps as well. Does yours fit into this catagory?
