I have a rapido 31 club 2 berth lightweight caravan 1998 fitted with 165 70 r13 79t tyres and iv,e just had a quote for 2 tyres at £120 firestone fitted mobile fitter . My questions are is that a good price and are they the right size tyres for the caravan, it seems overpriced to me thanks colin
Can'y help with the size question but I use e tyres for my van tyres. Best price, local guy comes out to fit them and cheaper than using him direct. Their price also includes balancing, most fitters don't balance caravan tyres as they don't seem to think it neccessary.

Slightly expensive for mid range tyre which is what Firestone is. You can get 2 midrange tyres of that size fitted/balanced for £80-90 from online suppliers like Tyreshopper who will deliver tyres to tyre depot local to you for fitting included in price you have paid.
Those that come to you like etyres might be more expensive but obviously more convenient as many depots cannot take caravans but you can of course remove wheels yourself & take to depot for fitting. Theres no cheapest place to buy tyres you have to shop around every time.
Anywhere that fits car tyres should balance as a matter of course. Its caravan workshops fitting tyres in the course of a service that often do not balance because they do not have a balancer machine. Obviously they will say balancing is not needed because unlike car you cannot feel out of balance wheel but unbalanced wheel will still be stressing hub unnecessarily.
