We've done it and put a deposit on a 2012 adria astella. YIPEEEEEWe will hopefully trade our elddis in and get it in the next few weeks.
We need to get a wheel clamp and Hitchcock, please can someone give me advice, particularly baring in mind insurance. I have tried to look on line to get an insurance quote but am struggling get the model recognised, the site as secure ( its a camping and caravan one so not CCsoa or whatever they are called)
The only quotes I've managed to get are hideously expensive so I was hoping suitable locks would reduce the cost. Can anyone recommend locks and a suitable insurance company for a new van
I do our insurance through the Camping and Caravanning Club, it was a good price and the security requirements were sensible. Every time I did a quote different companies had different ideas about what sort of clamp and hitchlock were suitable. In the end my wheelclamp cost nearly as much as the first years premium.
Rob
PS I meant to congratulate you on your new caravan. Congratulations!

Check if the adria comes with the alko receiver behind the wheel. . It may do as the astella is not the basic model. The alko wheel lock gives you a discount at camping and caravanning club insurance, which I used. They alko lock can be moaned about (and could completely agree for a twin axle), but I've not found it too bad to fit provided you think about the wheel position BEFORE you unhitch (unless you have a power mover). My storage site was in registered with cosa, but to quote was reasonable nevertheless.
Camping and Caravan Club for us too they were the cheapest by far on our 2013 Bailey Unicorn Cadiz only £237 for the year on new for old which I though was a great price!
------------- Easter - Burford
May - WoodFarm Dorset
June - IOW
Aug - can't decided
October - Yorkshire
Plus many more weekends at every possible chance!

Tried them but they won't insure unless I get a tracker... Don't know anything about trackers, how to fit or cost.

That's a good point. I will ask tomorrow. At the moment they are the best price but £400 ish seems an awful lot when it's a market value quote. Thanks

WOW that's cheap, where do you store and what security do you have?
Does anyone have an Astella??? I'd love to know what awning you use, I'm not sure our porch will fit given how close the door is to the slope of the front roof.

I don't have one but I have just had a look -being the nosey sort (sorry). I love the very different layouts I'm quite envious of you now.
Good choice, ours certainly seems to feel much more solid and of higher quality than all our previous vans.
Was insured with Saga, switched to NFU, then as the premiums crept up, switched back to Saga........Mick
