Maybe your system needs bleeding, or some vents are obstructed?

For a fast warm up we use gas and 2KW electric set to max temp. Then we turn off the gas and set a working temperature when the 'van is warm. It does get very warm!

As has previously been said Surfer, there must be something wrong with your system. Like Al+Mel have said, it can get very warm indeed.

Nothing wrong with the system except that it does not do the job properly and I am not the only one to complain. Biggest drawback is all the extra weight eating into the payload. I would rather have the payload and Truma blown air heating!

I would not want to go back to blow air heating. Never had a problem with my Alde and much more efficient at keeping the caravan at a good even temp.

If it isn't doing the job properly there must be something wrong. Maybe the antifreeze hasn't been changed on schedule and this has resulted in the system silting up.

Why would caravan manufacturers fit a less efficient heating system to their top of the range products? Don't you think they would have had a few complaints over the years?

They have had complaints as I am not the only one, but they choose to ignore us. The newer caravans have 3kw heating but that does not help us.

They have had complaints as I am not the only one, but they choose to ignore us. The newer caravans have 3kw heating but that does not help us.




I warm my van initially using gas and electric, once up to temp switch to 2kw electric when very cold outside or 1kw otherwise. Never a problem keeping warm. There are two parts to the equation however, you could have a problem with your Alde unit or there could be an issue with the way it was installed in your caravan by the manufacturer. Are the other complaints you mention general or regarding your model caravan?

Where do you believe any extra weight actually comes from?
Dont forget it also does the water heating that an "S" series Truma does not do though a "C" does.
I calculated the change when specifying our bespoke build and it was a very small increase to have an Alde system; we would not touch the Truma "C" at that time.

Between 3and 7kg difference in weight. Hardly eating into payload.

Between 3and 7kg difference in weight. Hardly eating into payload.

The liquid alone weighs in a almost 10kg according to Lunar. On top of which you have the piping and the radiators if you can call them that.
I am saying that it takes a long time to warm up the caravan on a very cold day and you need to use gas to boost it. It then struggles to maintain the temperature and over the Easter weekend it would not go over 21C. Also having a cold draught at your feet did not help either.
Underfloor carpet heating is the way to go!

I think you have a problem with your heating.... ours is 2008 and it's mighty warm ...Easter was no problem.....infant it was too warm and had to be turned down

Obviously something wrong with your van or heating. I've been away in temps as low as -9 and van sat at 23 degrees comfortably .that was on 2kw electric.
