We have just bought an Eriba Puck L as we have been looking for a small caravan to fit under our car port so we could have impromptu weekend breaks (needed a caravan under 200 cm width so we can just get up 'and go'). Got ours from AL although saw loads of Eribas on Preloved, Gumtree and Caravan Club websites; bought our Eriba from dealer for piece of mind but if you know what you are looking for (and you are more savy than us - not saying much!) than you can probably get a bargain.

Hi Julie

I just looked up the Eriba Puck, what a brilliant looking van.  I like the idea of get up and go, did that myself on Friday, but with my tent.

Regards

Norman

Julie

I went to the Red Squirrel (tent's only) in Glencoe on Friday. Got a touch too much sun, stunning place, deer, ducks and high high mountains. My dilemma of course being that this wonderful site is not for caravans, once there you'd understand why. So what to do - I like the freedom of the car/tent however in the poor weather the Eriba makes so much sense. Hope you have good weather down 'south' come the start of May.

Regards

Norman

Norman

I think I have heard about the Red Squirrel campsite before (Jel Boy???) anyway the way I am thinking is that I will use the Eriba for most breaks but will still keep our Virginia 5 too.  Going to France with 2 other families in August and are taking the tent and awning as it will be less stressful.

Want to have the best of both worlds but think the Puck L will give us quick get aways without the worry of drying the tent off afterwards.

Glad you had a great time at Glencoe, keep putting on the after sun!

Best wishes,

Julie

I bet after using the caravan a few times you won't want to bother with the tent. I would have thought taking a tent to France is more stressful than a caravan, not less. After a days drive, the last thing you want to do is erect a tent.

We had an Eriba Triton 430 for a couple of years. We had a trailer tent at the time and still wanted to be campers rather than caravanners. However, one soaking wet summer later and we realised that the Eriba might be a good compromise. We loved it and only sold because with the the 2 of us, our 2 kids and the dog it was becoming a tight squeeze. They are very expensive and looking back we probably paid too much for it. When we did sell it, we ended up buying a big white box. Nowehere near as pretty but more practical. We're not caravanners though - we're campers in a caravan.

Hi Tentz,

I don't know, we thought about it and think taking the tent will be less bother and cost.  Eurotunnel then towing the Eriba trying to get to the Northern Vendee in time for early evening as newbie carvanners.  If it was just the two of us it would be different, we could meander down,  but are taking our two large teenagers and meeting family at the campsite makes it a different ball game.

Maybe next year.....

Julie
