We have just tried to move our caravan for the first time after winter. The leisure battery is well charged and we have replacedthe battery in the hand set. The mover handset came green and the caravan moved but when we took our finger of the button on the handset the caravan kept moving. The only way we could stop it was by turning the battery off. HELP any ideas please

Had this once a long time ago and they replaced the hand set overnight by post.you could remove the hand set battery and use the umbilical cable to see if things improve,if yes then the handset needs attention.have someone ready to turn off the isolator switch.

I am leaning towards faulty remote then , seems the device is mechanically able to operate but doesn't seem to pick up the stop signal, will be interesting to hear what manufacturers say!

I'm about to go out and try mine. I had it fitted late last year and used it just the once before covering the caravan for the winter. Fingers crossed/touching wood that it's all working ok after a long sleep over the winter!

Edited to add - while we are on the subject, my remote control box was fitted inside the front locker to the floor... I was a bit concerned about damaging it putting the sleeping bag/pillows in and out every night and day. I have found a plastic biscuit box, which I could just lay over the top to prevent damage, so I'm going to see if the mover still works with this over the top.

ETA: Mine is all working fine! I put the plastic box bottom over the top of the remote box as well, and it still worked, so I'm going to leave that in place, maybe secure with a bit of sticky velcro. And I need a spare set of batteries, the ones in there still work (why didn't I take them out over winter???) but they are cheapie ones the fitter put in and I think duracel would be better.

Make sure you stand as near to the receiver box in the caravan as possible. If the signal is weak from the handset, the receiver might not be getting the command to stop, so it just keeps going.

This happens with radio controlled model cars and boats too.... if it goes out of range it will just keep on going!!!!

Does the remote of a caravan mover not transmit a continuous 'move' signal?

I would have thought that would be the safest arrangement, with loss of the signal due to taking your finger off the button or moving too far away causing the van to stop.
