On holiday again and for those of you who read my rant (on another thread)on other drivers failing to give way to us caravanners...because they can't reverse, you will know that the mood was soggy when we landed here in Crakehall. What a fabulous site at Heron's Pond. A C&CC listed site with 9 pitches but just the three of us this week.
Each pitch looks towards the pond where there is a Heron every day although I noticed today that it's artificial. However, a real one comes down every so often. There are quite a number of Tufted Ducks which are worth viewing.
Anyway last night it blew a gale all night. The caravan creaked and many a time we thought that we were about to tipple over! I am sure that we were moving north as we slept and yet to my surprise this morning the caravan was still in the same place!! Hurrah.
3 in the morning and I was up pulling the aerial down just in case it got twisted by the gale.
Awful night and some of us need our beauty sleep to face the next day.
Guess what? You never will, but the aqua-hose, being blown too and fro across the hardstanding, just got a hole wore into it as it rubbed along the gravel, so by morning it was leaking!!
Off to Caterick Caravans this am for a new one and a look around an Elddis Affinity 550 with Island bed. My god, nearly spent that lottery win, but then £2.50 doesn't go that far other than for another ticket.
Sun shine today even in the gale. If the weather is as windy tomorrow I think we will go and have a tour around the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham in the morning. If its still a gale in the pm we will have a tour around the Theakston Brewery in the afternoon. Sounds like a plan to me.

Hi Phil, hopefully the wind has dropped now and you can have a good nights sleep! We were in the same boat as you over easter, we stayed on a site that turned out to be extremely windy and spent most of the night checking that the awning was still attached! Enjoy the rest of your holiday, hopefully it will be incident free after your first couple of days, don't drink too much it will only give you a headache in the morning! Sounds like a nice site by the way.
oh the joys phil . reading your misdamenas really put a smile on my face seriously hope the gales have blown over after you visited the breweries .love reading your threads when you are away
