We had our caravan stolen from innis inn and camping storage on wednesday night. It had all the devices on it, but all gone!
Dethleffs West Star, twin axle. See full details herehere
If anyone has seen this vehicle, please contact us. The reg plate on the back was T502 KOE - the tyres on the van when taken were storage wheels (perished) so would have needed to change them somewhere.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Realistically it is probably off to the land where most inhabitants don't live in houses and are off-grid! When I was serving overseas I had a German van which I brought back to the UK. I put it in to the local dealership for a service and while in their care it was stolen. Not another van in the place was touched. Luckily the van was really distinctive and the police recovered it while it was 'travelling' to its new home. I would love another continental van but I am unwilling to take the chance again. Those on here a while may remember 'Farmerswife' and how her joy and elation at owning her brand new Hobby turned to tears of disappointment when it was stolen within weeks of taking delivery. In her case the van was kept at a very remote location so she had to have been tailed home by the thieves... very unnerving!
We all felt for her and the really sad thing was that it put her off caravanning for good. We will all keep an eye out for your van, but at the end of the day would you want it back after some thieving toadie has settled inside it? Sometimes it is best just to let the insurance company do their job.
always sad to see a fellow 'vanner, lose their pride and joy to the scumbags like this, hope you get your 'van back in one piece and that the thieves get caught and dealt with accordingly
------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far
Dont really see the point of insurers asking to secure your van when thieves just make it look so easy to take it clamped or not.Hope it finds its way back to you.
If you look at the website & google streetview, the site is pretty remote & it would not have been difficult for well equipped thieves to burn off any security devices at their leisure & tow caravan away. Its not a touring caravan & its a type popular with thieves. Obviously a planned raid, one can only speculate as to how they knew the caravan was there in the first place.
