Can anyone give me the good and bad points of both heating systems? and how many Amps will each pull?

We are seasonal pitch and only have 10amp EHU so wanted to know which is best for us?

Ive searched the forums and most posts are only about the problems people are having with both systems. Really wanted views of people who have used either system and if either had an advantage over the other.

I prefer Alde over warm air. Whilst Alde might take longer to heat up a van initially, once the van is warm it stays warm. There are no cold areas, like you get with warm air, and the whole van is the same temp.
Try it at home. Switch off the central heating and try to heat your lounge with a fan heater.
10 amp should be fine. 10 amp equates to 2400 watts and my Alde keeps my Clubman SB, not a small van, very warm on a 2 kw setting. You can always boost the heat output by using gas and electric at the same time.
Anecdotally, according to the forums, most Alde users would not return to warm air heating.
I think that the Alde system is more suited to a seasonal pitch.

One of the main drawbacks of the ALDE system is that it has no fan and there are no vents around the caravan. We found that with the Truma you could use the fan in the summer to blow cool air around the caravan. No such luxury with ALDE. Truma heats up caravan quicker as mentioned. Both probably use the same amount of power between the pump and the fan.
We had the TRUMA in our previous caravan and now have ALDE and the jury is still out. Wife prefers Truma and I am non-committal as ALDE is a bit over rated and not really any better.

folks to be honest I think the new Whale Heating system recently installed in the new Baileys blows the ALDE & TRUMA out of the water. The heatup times are really quick its impressive. We have recently ordered and will collect today our Bailey Pegaus GT65 which has this system and it was one the major contributors in making us buy this van. Please have a look and check it out.

I am not sure if it is possible to do a Retro fix from a TRUMA system to a WHALE system but would certainly be worth looking at for anyone interested.

Strange, our Lunar has vents for the Alde system. We also find it excellent in the depths of winter, in fact it can be a touch too warm.

The latest Alde systems have a 3kw electric element so will blow your 10 amps if you turn it up to maximum. Ours is an older system and maximum is 2kw. Once it's upto temperature our Alde system runs at 1kw in the summer, and 2kw in the winter with the occasional boost on gas. Always very cosy in the van, although needs to start on gas & electric to get it up to temperature in about 45 minutes.

If you need a fan for blowing cool air round the van then get one from Aldi (not Alde).

We have the Alde system and prefer it to the blown air we had in our previous van.

We like the fact we can set it to different temperatures at different times, and that it is virtually silent in operation.

We carry a fan heater as back-up should there be a problem, we find this useful for "instant heat" while the Alde is warming the van.

We put the fan heater on 2kw, the Alde on gas + 1kw (on 16 amp EHU), for about half an hour while setting up, then switch to Alde only on 2 kw.
