Dear All, (apologies for the long post)

I am hoping there will be someone on the forum that may be able to shed some light on where the water may be coming from in our new caravan.

First a little bit of background.......

We had our 2yr old Bailey Olympus 464 stolen in October 2012. CC insurance were absolutely great and within 3 weeks had agreed to replace our van, We could no longer get the layout we wanted in an Alutech so we went for a new Lunar Ultima 534. I was a bit concerned about going back to a traditional wood construction but decided that we would rather go with the layout that suited us best rather than an Alutech with a layout that didn't.

We collected our new pride and joy on 27th December. The weather was awful, so we took the Lunar straight to storage where it stayed until our first outing to the Cotswolds 2 weeks ago.

All was well until the second day when we had a few heavy showers. My OH pointed out that there was a little bit of water on the floor beside the small bathroom sink, I had washed my hands so assumed I had splashed the floor and just mopped it up. Later the same evening my OH commented that he could still see water along the front of the cupboard under the sink and along the shower compartment. I pushed kitchen roll along the bottom of the cupboard and water immediately began to soak up into the tissue until it was wringing wet. We replaced the tissue several times and gradually the water became less. Our first thought was there was a leak on the water system. We removed boxing around the pipes and all the connectors were dry. We drained down the water system but still the water kept coming. The floor was wet inside the sink unit, the floor under the wardrobe and was seeping from under the shower cubicle whenever it rained. We knew where the water is coming out but haven't a clue where it was coming in. When it wasn't raining it was dry.

We took our van back to the dealer the Monday we came back from our break. They have had the caravan for a week today and have been unable to find the source of the leak, in fact they have been unable to make the van leak at all.. There is no damp evident on the wall boards or ceiling, the dealer has carried out a full damp check and found nothing. They are at a loss and so are we. The only thing I am sure about is that we don't want the van back as it is. It leaks and it won't be long before it rots if left unchecked.

Does anyone have any ideas where the water may be getting in????

Thanks!

Sara

Thank you for your reply. This is a distinct possibility, the dealer did mention that locker doors are often a problem. I hope they are checking out this possiblilty, I will ask them again when I speak to them in a couple of days time.

One of our window seals had not been sealed at the factory and when the wind blew a certain way when raining it leaked It required a new window seal and a wall board But the dealer wanted to quirt it with mastic....

I have since bought a damp meter and now check it myself....
