Has anyone, repaired a comman fault on the Harrier where the front end is lifting from the chassis, where dry rot has set in ?. Is it repairable ?
If any one who lives in Burnley keep away from a company called Canavan's of Burnley , they really ripped my daughter and family off of £1500 with an advert saying its in perfect condition and ready for the road. Its actually ready for a Scrap Yard :( and My daughter has been saving for years, for these callous people to rip her off. Anyway help in this area would be appreciated as there is no money left to ask professionals to repair it.
Many Thanks for everyone who might be able to help.

Hi ,

Sorry to hear of your daughters misfortune, she really has 2 options,if she has already been back to the dealer under sale of goods act, for item not as described, this really should be her focus to get a full refund. She could also try trading standards as well.

1. Try to resell the van and cut your losses

2. Repair the damp and enjoy the van once repaired, this will be very time consuming and will need a degree of DIY knowledge.

Try the following for information. www.caravandamprepair.co.uk
For details on how to repairs damp.

If the front of the van is lifting at the drawbar, I would suspect that the floor is damp and the mounting s may have pull through, this may be a case of replacing the floor in the front locker, which may not be too difficult.

It does need some one to have a really good look at it to determine what the damage is.

Hope you can sort it out for your daughter.

Regards Andy.

Thanks for the reply lads, we are trying Tradng Standards, but would you believe it, we send a letter to the dealer, which the post office cannot find, and we got to wait 15 days before they would look into it.But we have put in the letter which Trading Standards did stipulate we need a reply back within 14 days, What else can go wrong.????
The post Office wont say if its been refused or not been delivered :(
We have tried ebay as it was advertised on ebay :) and they said they would send out an investigation team out to see whats happening. The sad thing is my daughter trusted this dealer and paid him Cash :( And its her first Van :( what a good start hey :(
