Hi
We are new to caravanning, had our first trip out at the weekend which we loved
We want to get an awning but actually don't have a clue what's a good make and what's not. We want to get a full awning. Anybody got any advice on what's a good make and which ones to stay away from?
Thanks
Julia
If you have acres of spare cash then this lot are what you're after.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

depends on your pocket really.isabella are the best.we have a dorema full awning and its great no problems for 8 years we have owned it.
if its a cheaper market then look at
www.nrawnings.net
they give a 5 year warranty.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I have had an NR awning and that was good. With this van I have a Dorema and it is also good. Both were pre-owned so saved loads. Have a look around there are plenty of bargains out there.
What size Awning do you need, we have changed Caravans and now have a nice Ventura Atlantic Marine for sale in good condition.
Ventura are made by Isabella Awnings so the quality is there, but size is most important our Awning Size is 1040 it was a 1000 but we changed caravans and Isabella extended it to make it slightly larger.
On viewing its very hard to tell where they extended it because there workmanship is superb....and there Awnings whether it be Ventura or Isabella are second to none....
only ventura and isabella for us...
ventura full awning
isabella porch awning
and isabella sun canopy...

'Isabella' is far the best brand and although they're good quality they're not cheap unlesss you can get a bargain of course. I have recently being informed that 'Ventura' is the budget brand of 'Isabella' but it would be interesting to know if this is fact or not. 'Bradcot' is a good awning in the mid market range and also is 'Dorema' too that are not too expensive but knowing someone that has many years of experience with awnings they advised the ones to stay clear of are 'NR Awnings', 'Trio' and 'Harrison'. If you intend keeping your caravan for a few years and will use the awning regularly then the 'Isabella' would be the best buy but they can be difficult to sell due to the higher cost on the second hand market so you need to decide what your budget is, how long you want to keep it and if you will make full use of it in the long term. A friend of mine has recently bought an Isabella full awning for £150 which we erected for the first time last weekend. Amazingly there was nothing wrong with it apart from a very slight fading on the material so basically he got an absolute bargain even though the seller was about 85 miles away.
