posted this a while back but as the seasons starting up ,lets see if anyone has a cheap way round it yet .
i have full RAC cover via my car insurance (NFU MUTUAL) but on enquiring if it covers the caravan in case of a puncture/blowout the answer is a firm NO THEY WILL NOT COME OUT TO YOU .
it seems that in my case at least i would have to cancel with my insurance ,rejoin the rac ,then join the caravan and camping club ,then sign up to there arrival rescue ,total cost in excess of £300 .which i,m sure you will agree is totally ludicrous .
i could sign up with the caravan club and join there green flag recovery but thats still £77 per year for basic cover and i wouldn't avail myself of there sites as we don't want to .
i could sign up with the green flag and get recovery plus including caravan rescue but thats still £117-66 per year .but i still have rac cover
its getting to the point where i feel like selling up and just going to a guest house etc.
there must be a way round it but i cannot sort it ,not at a sensible price anyway , IDEAS ANYONE
its worth checking with your rescue service if your caravan is covered in case of breakdown /puncture/seized bearing etc .worth a phone call for peace of mind .
Checked with Brittania Rescue and I'm covered. Working in the industry just one other point. Please check you breakdown cover especially if it comes with a bank package or insurance. Many of these type of policies will only recover you to a place of safety up to a maximum of 10 miles. Cheap price = minimum cover.
we have just taken out new cover with the AA which covers both caravan & car £10.11p per month. Also if you have a motobility vehicle please check that you have taken out additional cover also with the recovery provider for your caravan - unfortunately our relative overlooked it and had blow out when we were on the motorway the other week which cost £250+ to tow us approx 4 miles to the site as unfortunately there was no spare in the van. Very expensive weekend
I have Kia Assist provided by the RAC.I also enquired about cover for the caravan.Since we go to France twice a year with the caravan it was essential that changing a wheel was covered.I paid an extra premium to RAC so caravan and car are covered for any eventuality.
Perhaps they will extend your cover for an additional premium.
Caravan club Europe cover from memory will come out for a puncture if you have a serviceable spare. They charge if you have no spare. Important point as not all vans have spares as standard.
we're greenflsg through out car insurance, Churchill. we have just spoken to them and as long as our van is within the dimensions required, ie less then 7m etc it is covered anyway, no extra charge and i can call them out for caravan breakdown. we have added the european cover for the remaining 5 months of my policy for france and was only an additional £38!! coveres as many trips as i like!
we were very impressed!

mmmm...... just checked and i have Camping and Caravan Club breakdown "arrival" covers my car and caravan for blow outs etc(just double checked with RAC) and with a cost of £(90)per year and covers my wife to drive etc.. also but only in the UK
right ,been at this now for most of the afternoon ,especially as we were blagged this morning by a RAC seller outside our local tescos ,i did a online search regarding CAR AND CARAVAN rescue services ,the cheapest and best one's i have so far come up with are
gem assist giving top breakdown cover for the car and including caravan assist and rescue at £89.75 per year
and the one i shall be transferring to will be AUTONATIONAL ASSIST ,which gives top cover i.e home start ,rescue ,recovery for the CAR and the CARAVAN for the princely sum of £66.00 per year ,in fact if you sign up online you get 15 months cover for the price of 12 .
i will tomorrow be cancelling my RAC membership and tranferring to this .
worth shopping around for and at the end of the day all your paying for is an insurance in case of ,if you look after your car and caravan hopefully you wont need them RESULT
