Leaving already Appleby?!

Have you looked at the 542 UP with the fixed bed, based on same platform?

Awww sunshinetours not just yet, only just had her larger Heki done lol and am enjoying that but we will be checking out what's around come the NEC show in October. Ideally we would love a caravan that has longer front seating that can be used both as singles as well as a double and would also like a larger fridge. As we are on a seasonal site and use the van most weekends and school holidays we feel this would be of benefit. We love our sporty as you know so don't know if parting with her will happen and yes we have looked at the UP, in fact i took some pictures of it when up at Venture.....which can be found here if anyone is interested in this model... Adria Sportline UP 2014 We also looked at all the Adoras, love the Thames but all of them have too short seating at front again, not much bigger than our current van which we found rather annoying considering all that extra space the adoras have grrrrr and we also looked at Bailey, loved the Barcelona. We'll see, nothings set in stone and we currently can't imagine anyone else owning our sporty......hmmmm not a nice thought.....am wondering whether we could afford to buy and keep 2 caravans Hubby chokes at the thought haaahaaa....nope! We certainly don't want to be left with any regrets so trust me we'll be thinking long and hard about it.

Our Kampa Carnival awning is back up .... yay .... love the extra dumping space
[/IMG]

Also love the hanging gadget that we picked up from Venture for just £2.99, i wish i had bought another one now. Great for hanging coats, towels and such in the awning.....

[/IMG]

Clever, just give Venture a call to book your caravan in for its service. They are very helpful. We booked ours in back in Feb lol.

Hi Clever, I'm not sure either when you have to book, we booked ours in around Christmas as we needed to make sure the dates we needed were available. Loving the awning hooks Appleby

We're currently waiting for a new front panel to come from wherever they are made (can never remember) for ours...had a bit of an accident at easter, won't go into it (very embarrassed and quite upset about it), but have a cracked front panel. Panel is due a few weeks before we go to France, so may well postpone it until we come back and combine it with a service which is due in October anyway...it's all taped up inside and you can hardly see it...we also still have the problem with the trim coming off...it's come off both sides now, so they need to sort that out too.

I was most impressed with the insurance company, Safeguard...I sent the claim form off with a couple of photos and a repair estimate from Venture and they just sent the cheque back, no questions asked. I do hope that Venture don't leave ours in a mucky state when we take it in.

Thanks shelleybobs, I have phoned up today and booked in for the middle of July.

I'm going to drop off one weekend and pick up the next. Not really got any problems to report apart from the backing coming off the bathroom mirror like many people seem to have. Apart from that it's given us a year of trouble free holidays.

We love the van...after the 'incident' I didnt ever want to go caravanning again, but we took it out at half term and all went well and I love it again now...hubby is now a dab hand at reversing it too.

Well, pleased to say, our Sportline came out of the service absolutely fine. All the little niggles were sorted, they even put a whole new door on where the catch had mad a bit of a mess on the cupboard above the sink. Damp report came back between 8% and 13% which I'm happy with

Surprisingly we had a fail on the report and the gas line near the regulator was changed....... apparently there was no date visible on the piping so they changed it. Excellent practice I think considering the line was obviously not an old one being that this was it's first service.

10/10 again for Venture's excellent service!!

I did have to chuckle though when I turned up on my own with my 3 year old to pick up the caravan...... the guy that handed over our caravan was looking for the man of the family and was rather taken back when I said "no its just me, he's at work!" He looked a bit worried and asked if I normally towed haha.

2 hours later and I was raising more eyebrows as I turned up to site, manoeuvred, pitched, levelled and set up the caravan including awning and was just settling down to a nice cold glass of wine in the sunshine when OH turned up. Lady from next door caravan popped round sunday afternoon telling me I had sparked a bit of an argument between her and her husband. apparently they were watching me set up and when I managed perfectly well on my own, wife turned to husband and said.. " If a slip of a girl like that can cope on her own, then why do you shout me to hold this, pull that, get this carry that....... whilst I'm inside trying to cook tea??" It did make me chuckle!!

Here's to another fun year in our lovely caravan

That's wonderful news Shelleybobs. Thanks for letting us know

I just like to have a go at stuff Appleby, my OH says I'm far to independent. it's like I said to him...... he works longer hours than I do and I like him to come to the caravan from work and rest as he doesn't get much downtime. If you have a routine and do it methodically, you'd be fine GIRLPOWER!! Haha xx

We couldn't even get our van out of the fenced area from the service center at Venture without help LOL LOL. We need a lot more practice me thinks. I told my hubby how great you are at all things caravan from towing to pitching to awning....and all these things done on your own, he had no words LOL LOL... think he would of choked on them if he had HAAHAAAA! We did have our awning up though within an hour this time around though....the fist time last year it took us 5 hours LOL or was it 6 teehee. Shelleybobs the woman warrior Your so cool xx

Good for you Shelleybobs! I'm sure if I put my mind to it, I'd be able to do it too...I certainly get the awning up better than my hubby, but I do like him to do the donkey work of pegging out!

Good on you Shelleybobs - you seem very calm when faced with shall we say some rather "traditional attitudes" from Ventures mechanics

Sunshinetours, he was really nice about it when he got over the initial shock Apologised for assuming and went on to say that he thinks its great that women will have a go.

Slow and steady wins the race, as soon as I'm in the car and hooked up I'm in holiday mode...... and anyways, if I get on site and rush about I always lose my keys so it costs me an hour looking for them so i have learnt my lesson with that one. Haha

Looking forward to the new challenge coming in August when we take her across the water. OH won't be towing as he needs a bit of practice driving on the wrong side with a (my) manual car (his is auto but 4x4 so too fuel thirsty to go to france) before he puts the caravan on the back and has even more to think about. Can't wait!!!!

Enjoy Shelleybobs - really looking forward to our main hols also

Assuming you are in France for your hols - if so then you will love it and its really easy towing/driving over there.
The autoroutes whilst can be costly whilst towing a caravan, are a great way for smooth comfortable driving to cover large distances to get you to your destination
