New (old) caravan has gas fire and blow air heating. I preferred the last one we had, gas+electric fire with blow air heating. all the wall switches etc are specific to current heating. Can I just change the fire or would I have to change the whole system? Thanks
I want to fit the electric element in my gas fire and blown air heating, it doesn't look that hard to me, it all bolts on the back of the fire, then wire it up.

We are absolutely no good at that type od DIY - wouldnt trust ourselves especially since we take our wee rascal aka grandson so would be paying for someone to fit. But wondering if it is an easy (read cheap) enough job or not worth the expense.
Well I have looked at it and as far as I can see with the element you bolt it to the back of the fire and fit the switch near by, then wire via a isulation switch to the mains.
As for the air blown part of it as above but you wire it to 12v instead.
I can't see why it would be so expensive, but with labour and aditional wires etc I would guess at least two hours, so about £120.00 Max.
Only guessing though, ring a couple of mobile fitters in your area. Check out the MCEA web site. ( mobile caravan engineers association)

Thanks, that sounds like it could be an option. I'll do some pricing.
I don't know if its any help but I have a 1992 elddis wisp and the previous owner has removed the gas fire and fitted an electric house hold fire instead ideal if you are always on EHU as only runs off 240v but warms the 'van up in no time
