Hi all,

You are all probably aware of this detour.

En-route north from Minehead, my satnav took me off the M5 just after the Avonmouth Bridge northbound at J18a taking us on the M49 towards the new Severn Bridge and Wales. We then turned back towards the M5 on the M4. This completely missed out the roadworks on the M5 at Bristol. I'm sure that you could do this journey Southbound but cannot comment!

Going that way on Monday,are the roadworks long term,I do know of the alternative route as I used it in my truck a few years ago,before I retired

Greetings,

Having been through that roadworks on loads of occasions, (both towing and single) can I ask what the problem is, or have I been lucky at driving through at 50mph without let or hindrance.

The only problem with this area ( its on my door step) is everyone trys to go through at the same time. The worst times are the saturdays of the school holidays and Friday afternoon evening.
Its not always possible for some to avoid these days when the managed motorways scheme is inplementd then it should ease the traffic somewhat.

I had a blow out on the caravan, last Friday right in the middle of it. it was midnight. it took the police and a work force of three trucks one hour to get me going again. its not the start we planned for.
