when we had tents we joined Camping & Caravan Club and did use some of their club sites. Once we bought our caravan we also joined Camping Club, never been to a site in 2 years so that one has now been cancelled. As we are a certain age, we get concessionary at c&cc sites so will be keeping that one. I think its a matter of choice really
Lots of threads on this topic. Suggest you visit both websites to see what they offer and make your choice from there. We use club sites because we like to know what we are getting and we like a fairly quiet life. Also use C&CC to book French sites and for insurance.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
We are members of the caravan club (only got our first caravan in March) and have visited a club site and 3 different certificated sites so far, which have all been fantastic.
We have also been to a few C&CC sites that accepted non members with friends who have tents. From the limited experience that we have there seems to be a more relaxed vibe on the C&CC sites and the CC sites we have visited had a more formal arrangement (and were quieter from a "noise" point of view).
I think we will join both and see which one suits us the best longer term.
Was a member of both but found I only used caravan club so binned the ccc. Always had good service from cc but its just a personal opinion. Sorry not more help.
I am a member of both Clubs as I like to use CS and CL sites and attend rallies and meets so for these alone, in my opinion, it is worth the membership fees. Have never used a CC site and have only used 1 C&CC site in 8 years of membership!
You may also like to consider how often you are likely to use a 'club' site.
If it is only occasional then you just pay a small supplement to use Camping & Caravan Club sites. It will take quite a few supplements to make up the £41 pa membership.
Bear in mind that you must be aware of and make sure you and your children observe ALL the rules, ALL the time. Otherwise you will find some officious member of staff on your back. The further north you go the friendlier and more pleasant I find site staff. At Moffat and Dingwall we found them totally fab!
There are many many sites that are not club sites that are clean, well organised, friendly, be they big or tiny.
Ask yourself why you want to join one of the clubs? Site Guide? You can buy a reputable caravan site guide for a lot less than membership.
My Dad was a member of the Caravan Club for donkeys years. We were caravnning as a family in tourers from the early 50's. I think the clubs are pretty well much of a muchness. If you want any worhtwhile service you have to pay extra for it. They are NOT charities.
Have a few holidays, here and there, for weekends and weeks away and then make up your mind.
We have been members of the C & CC for some years but will probably not renew this coming year as we have increasingly found the site management not very friendly!
Whatever you do; enjoy your caravanning. It's great! Use 'ukcampsite'; it is an excellent resource. No I don't work for them.
If as you say you are new to caravaning then my advise would be to join a club if only to gain the wealth of information they have to offer. In the past I have belonged to both clubs and my preference if I were to rejoin now would be the C&CC. I fell out with the CC simply because their discription of CLs fell way short of reality. I challenged them on several occasions about their misrepresentaions and got absolutely no where, so we parted company. Good luck and enjoy your camping
