We will be travelling along the A75 tomorrow from Carlisle to Stranraer. Do any of you good folk know of a nice stopping place along the way, around Dumfries, preferably with toilets and a bit of a dog walk?
Thanks
Ab

If you use the "old" route through Dumfries rather than the new ring-road, there's a carpark with toilets down beside the river, GPS 55.064632, -3.608844

https://maps.google.com/

Alternatively, there is a Shell garage with a Little Chef beside it on the approach to Dumfries, immediately before you would join the ring-road, and both have toilets. Not much opportunity for dog-walking perhaps, but plenty of lay-bys on the A75.

Thanks Eddie, great suggestions. I like the sound of the river-side one very much.
Cheers, Ab.

The river one is Dock Park in Dumfries and you can walk the dog there no problem.

Thanks guys. I've had a look on Streetview and it looks great. The car park looks to be ok for caravans too. I guess we could take up two spaces in the middle?

We've used it many times with a caravan, and never had a problem.
