Can't advise on towing but in addirion to the above I would give serious thought to a fixed bed with a decent matress. I am only 46 but found with our first van that sleeping on a make up/down bed my back ached after more than 2 nights. We sold it and moved to our current unit and I can honestly say the bed is better than the one we have at home!
Another vote for the Adria here. We just picked up our 2013 Sportline DT from venture caravans. If £13000 is your max budget you could get a brand new adria 6 berth. It would be the Adria Taymar or Severn. Same as the Sportline DT and DK but without a few dealer bits. The DT is the triple bunk layout, our children are 12, 11 and 2 and they love it. End bathroom is really roomy and can be used as a dressing room. The bunks are quite a lot bigger than British made bunks so will last your children years. I could quite happily sleep on them, max weight is 70kg for top two bunks. 10 year water ingress warranty on them too
We went for a brand new Adria as apposed to a second hand British van for a few reasons.......
We started off camping so weren't really bothered about most of the extras English made vans have as standard that the Adrias don't.
We kept hearing fantastic reports of the build quality!
A bailey dealer (who didn't sell Adria) told us that we would be better with the Adria if we were already considering it as an option. Like he said, they don't offer the extras as standard but you can put what you want in it. Also a thought seconded by "Wizzo" on here.
I have looked at the Sportline at Venture. Do you know if they deliver or you have to collect from them as I live in Scotland, it's a bit of a trek. For the right caravan I'd be more than happy to travel though. I would pay a bit more if required, do Venture add on things for you like awnings etc if required?
I think you'd have to collect it. As you are so far away not sure if good idea re going back for servicing. Not sure if you can take it to another adria dealer or a ncc approved service centre to keep the warranty- others may advise. There is an adria dealer in fife area I think- check adria website for dealers. The sport line model is only available from venture though.
Hi there, we have just put a deposit down on the DK version. Same size and price as the DT just different layout. We preferred having a separate room area, somewhere to close off where the kids or adults can chill...thought this would be better than the extra space in the bathroom as we don't live in it lol. Can be used as a dressing area as well. The side seating is also situated in this room so its literally like having a 2 roomed caravan lol. Everyone's preferences are different and you can look at both layouts via the youtube videos that Venture caravan have out. DT SPORTlINE and DK SPORTLINE
We also live a good 3.5-4hrs away in South Wales and after looking at the altea seven DK and the DT in bristol plus viewing ventures youtube videos made us want to go give them a good look see, so booked a 2 night stay 2 weekends ago to go view them. Spent both days going around their standard models as well as their sportlines (as they have them all) and ended up making a decision and putting down a deposit. Both caravans are really airy and open with lots of storage and possibilities, it was really a hard decision to make between the 2 because both have their pro's and con's. Just imagine yourself, your children and your stuff in the spaces and take it from there
Just a note on the servicing, we were told that as long as it is an approved Adria servicing place, another Adria dealer can do the service on it. Some people have reported that some dealers ( not just Adria) are funny about servicing vans that they haven't sold but the local to us Adria dealer said that they are a family run business that has to fill the diary to pay the workshop lads wages so they don't mind booking in vans they haven't sold. Worth just giving your local dealer a ring and checking
Hi Andy, sorry I've only just seen your post. It was Kingsmill Leisure in Mansfield. We may book it in there, not sure yet. Seemed a lovely run family business.
