We've recently bought an old caravan and had our first trip in it over the last Bank Holiday. We loved the 'luxury' of the caravan compared to camping in a tent, despite having to take the awning down in torrential rain and strong winds!

That aside, I wondered how many caravaners have covers over their caravan seats during the day? Our old caravan seats have been reupholstered, and are lovely. Do you keep your seats nice by covering them up or do you just leave them as they are?

Yes we use throws too. Funny really as when we look at caravans we tend to like or not like the upholstery when really, most of the time we keep it covered

Lol yes, the look of the seats is so important yet it gets covered up!

I wonder if the seats can be kept pristine without the need for throws (short of banning people from sitting on them!)? Is it possible?

we don't cover our's, we have 3 children and it's more hassle than it's worth. they just dont wear shoes etc on furniture. we did specifically buy a van with darker covers.

We have always covered ours . I have some nice white / cream fleece throws to cover them.
It is silly but I think you need to protect them to keep them nice.

In looking at second hand caravans I would look at how the seating has been looked after as an indication of how the caravan in general has been looked after. I would like to think that by looking after things in and around the van, we would achieve a higher selling price should we have to sell the van for any reason. Also, have a greater selling power with photos etc with things looking nice.

I use throws in my caravan as they are much easier to put in the washing machine when they get mucky than trying to remove the seat covers.
