Hi,we are still fairly new to having our caravan and just wondered what everyone does with their food they take with them, clothes ,pots and pans and all the other bits and bobs, at the min we put them in the cupboard ,wardrobe and fridge and then travel with them in these places but just wondering if this wrong? Alot of people seem to have storage boxes and then unpack upon arrival.. is there a right and wrong way or is it each to their own ?
I would say it depends on if your caravan is outside the house or in storage.
We use to pack clothes up in bag, food in another and take them with us as our van was in storage, pots and pans we left in van.
We didn't use to take much food either , we found it easier to look on google earth for a near by tesco or similar and pop to shop when needed.

Our campervan lives on our drive, and has it's own set of kitchenware etc so doesn't need restocking each time. We have storage boxes under the bed for shoes and so on, I keep certain shoes and sandals there all the time, plus full set of waterproofs. I can easily nip to the van if I need them.
So when we go away, we need to pack clothes, bedding, and a box of food.
We are on a seasonal and have duplicated pretty much everthing we need at the van, all we take is washed linen, clothes etc and anything perishable from the fridge (in a cool) box. This way we rarely forget anything and set up time is reduced.
Yeah we have a seasonal now and have everything there, just take some clothes now,
We had it all from touring mind you, I never took pots and pans home.
Tins etc were left for the season too.
As loads of people have said, I leave my tea coffee and sugar in for the season. I pack away bread crisps and light stuff before we go but leave all tins bottles and heavy stuff in a crate over the axle and pack this away when we get there. As for pots utensils etc, the van is better stocked than my house and its all left in cos otherwise I would forget loads each time.
I pack pots and pans low down. I leave light packet food, teabags etc in the overhead lockers. I pack out any cupboards where things may move around with clean teatowels.
My concern is if anything slightly heavy, like a tin of beans, slides and bangs on the door and knocks it open it may then bounce about the van and do damage!!!

Pans live under/in the oven, Plates live in the rack in the overhead locker, certain food essentials live in another locker Tea, sugar, tinned tomatoes, salt/pepper various herbs&spices, A tin of spam, dried pasta. So if everything turns to poo I can make a meal and a brew
