Hi i have a damp spot in my van front right hand corner. As a temporary fix I have used CAPTAIN TOLLEYS CREAPING CRACK REPAIR BY APPLYING TO AWNING RAIL.i have used a small dehumidifier to dry out the wall board and it seems to have done the trick.I am contemplating resealing the awning rail. What is the best roll mastic strip to use ? Ie w4 or non branded.is it ok to have a joint in the roll mastic as they come in 5m lengths? What screws are best to use? Steel screws rust .Do stainless screws react against aluminium? Is it advisable to use sikaflex 512 top and bottom of rail as well as roll mastic underneath? My van is A Abbey piper 14-4 ex 1992.I may in time reseal all the van in time as a preventive measure.Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Caravan shops sell what you are after - strip of mastic on a roll - 2 widths available exactly the size of your rail. Easy job.
Melts in hot sun (should be ok then?) and that's why caravans leak.

You will never find it in use on boats.
I was not aware of that. Thanks. However I have successfully sealed using the stuff but noted for future.
