So we thought we found the ideal caravan for us until I sat at the front table and looked at the old damp above the shelf. It was then I noticed that the full front section of the caravan under the window moved about an inch. Is this normal or am I thinking right to stay away from it?
I think I'd steer well clear. I'm no expert but our old van didn't do that and our new one doesn't, and it would make me feel very uneasy indeed, especially if it has a history of damp.

Lots of work and money to fix, we have bought one like it and I wish I never bought it, if it has moved and when you grab the window the wall moves freely then its rotten.
And I mean all the front of the van will need doing.
My sister's old caravan had damp in the bathroom, which they never managed to sort out.. One week last year, they noticed that one of the beds was wet overnight, then they noticed a strong draught... it was at that point they noticed the whole of the side wall had come away from the caravan... so a newer caravan was bought soon after.
Thank you for all of your help. I have taken your advice and chosen not to buy. I've gone for a slightly more expensive caravan but hopefully it will last a considerable amount of time. It comes fully serviced too.
