I haven't done the caravan club course but I did have to take the B+E test as I passed my driving test after 1997. I agree that some sort of extra training is well worth doing, most people who've done the caravan club course that I've heard of, have all really enjoyed it and found it very useful and informative
To be honest I think you'll be fine if you tow a folding camper, before I towed my caravan I had only ever towed a small trailer for about 5 miles, as long as you just take your time and you'll be fine

I had never towed before either and went straight to a 24 foot van in April this year. I can't put my finger on why, but I love towing it!! i haven't let my husband tow yet as I enjoy it so much!
Until I towed it, I was a little apprehensive but knew that if I wanted a caravan, I would have to tow it as I go away by myself alot with the children.
I have no issues at all and I am sure you will be fine.

I think you will find it easier to tow than a small trailer tent.Have an hour or so on your local industrial estate and practice reversing and braking hard...just to get a feel for what your van does.Plan ahead for junctions etc and make life easy for yourself. If your not happy with going through a gap...get out and push! Might be embarrassing..but your van will be ok on the other side
