Just a quick question before I waste hours searching! When replacing a bottle of gas after 5 years do i need the agreement or is it void after so long?
I am about to change hopefully to Calor or BP / Macgas lites. Currently use Butane but if i change to propane I assume I just change the blue connector to the appropriate red one?
If you have the original agreement it is valid no matter how long ago it was and you will get a refund at the cost stated on the said agreement. If you change from Butane to Propane or visa versa then yes you have to change the regulator as they operate at different pressures. Regarding the Cadac I cannot advise as I have never used one but as far as I aware most caravanners use the external barbecue hose connected to their existing Propane cylinder.

Good point re external hose connector. We have one but never used it as it's a new van to us and with the old van I had 2 bottles, 1 for the van and 1 for the cadac. i suppose I could just carry one bottle if I used the external point - doh!

Is there a minimum or maximum hose length I should use as I wouldn't want the cadac too close to the awning or van?
I'm not sure about the length of hose you would need because I don't have an external barbecue point on my 1999 caravan so have never had the opportunity to actually used one but at a guess I would a think a one metre length of hose should be sufficient. I always carry two cylinders because if you run out you have no spare it can be sometimes difficult to obtain one instantly due to having no stock left and awaiting delivery which I know has happened to a couple of caravanners in the past.
I agree Tango, i prefer to carry 2 bottles but if i went down the BP 10kg route it would last me 5 years probably and I can see when it is about to run out too.
I believe BP gas cylinders are becoming more difficult to obtain since the company was taken over so it may be wise to start another thread asking about the availability of them as some I think have had problems recently just to be on the safe side before you do swap over.
