I am not sure how dense I am being but when I hook my caravan up to the mains I am unsure what I need to be able to charge the battery from this? Is there a switch I need to put on? Thanks
Yes, On the panel beside the fuses. Toggle the 3-way switch to the mid point (ie neither car nor van). Then there should be another switch to put the charger on.
Hope that helps

Depends how old your Freedom is. In the older ones, the leisure battery is retro fitted and there is no charger, you may need to buy a smart charger to charge the battery.
The on off switch - is it up for on and down for off? When hooked up, do you have power to the 3 pin plugs (use a table lamp to find out. If so, its the EHU on/off switch. Try following the wires from that to the leisure battery and see if they are connected in any way.
The 12v system usually runs some of the lights and the water pump - from the leisure battery. If the L.battery is connected, you should get some if not all of the lights working on 12v, and the water pump, that's if the battery is charged or charging.
Hi I have the 2010 Twin Sport we have never switched anything to charge the battery, we just plug the mains outside the van and it seems to do the trick we never had a flat battery
