A chance purchase of a Hyundai Matrix 1.6 Atlantic has come my way and I would like to know what sort of tow-car does it make. Our caravan is only 1000 kilos fully laden. Hyundai have a boring and basic reputation, but I am not about to enter a rally. Just pull a van.
As long as you are not overloaded you should be fine as long as you take it steady and don't try to rush things after all people have been towing caravans for years with a lot less horsepower than what you have which is admittedly not a lot by todays standard but saying that we towed with a Skoda Felicia 1.6 for nine years out of Norfolk and reached the four corner of the country with no problems what so ever including most of Scotland with three trips up and down Berriedale braes ( look on google earth) as anyone who has been up that way will tell you is quiet steep with hair pin bends. We have also towed to Applecross any other trip not for the faint hearted!
It's all really down to how you drive mainly being in the right gear at the right time and knowing what the limits of your car and yourself are which you will only find out by going for it.
Enjoy!!!
