When I camped in a tent it was always reiterated that one shouldn't use a 'normal' extension socket on the EHU and to get a special camping unit. Totally get that, not a problem.
I have a plug socket at the side of my caravan which I'm presuming is for the awning. Do the same safety considerations re condensation etc not apply in an awning as I can't find a safety camping plug lead that plugs into a normal plug point rather than the EHU socket? Does that make any sense?
Yes, the same considerations do apply to awnings, but presumably your outlet is connected through your caravan's consumer unit, which should have its own RCD (as well as MCBs).
You could, if you still weren't confident, add an inline RCD unit like this one, for example, at your outlet socket.

I'm presuming it would be, I didn't think of that. I am a bit thick when it comes to electrics lol! I do have one of those RCD units for the lawnmower though...
