Well we just back from 12 glorious days in Devon with our "new" van. Its an 2010 Elddis Xplore 495 (purchased originally Oct 11) which has been adapted for wheelchair access. Towed like a dream (steady 55mph) with a nose weight of about 60kg (max is 60kg on car) with our C4 Picasso 2.0HDI EGS plus Angel Tuning . On the way down the outside temperature was pushing 30 the engine diagnostics was showing a coolant temperature of 90-95 degress! Oh and Telegraph Hill just ouside Exeter was a challange but crested it doing 40mph in 4th with a coolant temp of 112! The only slight issue was an older gentleman in a red micra doing 38mph on a clear M5 window down oblivious of the chaos he was causing! What an a*******!
Just a couple of questions though....
1) Whats everyones opinion of Outdoor Revolution, especially the Pro Carbon EX awning?
2) Cover or not in open storage, no trees?
3) Anyone want to make me an offer on a Stronghold steel wheel wheelclamp? Brand new but despite claiming to fit my wheels it just wont without a lot of hassle, some cosmetic damage (minor paint chips.
I would say you have a temp problem.
Should be under 90, I think the running temp is 88-92 ish so should be under that really.
The rad fan would come on at 92 and off at 88, so the fan should of got it back to 88.
I would get your thermostat or rad fan checked out.
This would also account for lack of power.

No, no problem, just a seriously hot day with a heavy load! On the way back the temp never really got above 85, most of the time at the usual 80. The weather was raining with an outside temperature of 16-17 degrees. As for a lack of power the car is around 170bhp with an armful of torque...... Telegraph Hill is seriously steep and long......
Congrats on your new van. We too have an Xplore 495 2010. badged as a compass 495. We love it and have just spent 2 weeks touring in France.
We do not cover in storage at the moment, the issue seems to be that it has to be spotlessly clean before covering to avoid scratch marks. As we have been using ours up to October and then again in February and thinking of xmas also didn't seem worth all the cleaning and polishing!! However if we were storing over winter from say October to March we may well consider it.

Can you do us a favour? If you have the pullman bunk in the end would be a big help if you could take some photos of the supporting metal framework. The reason being the seller of the van had this removed and has it stored somewhere, photos would help locating it. Ta.

I just thought even on telegraph hill it would do more than 40mph. My transit is only 100ps and it never drops below 50 don't matter what I'm towing.
I went up that hill last year with an 1800cc scenic and a pennine Pullman on the back had to stop 3/4 the way up and start again could not even make it in 2nd coming back the hill was no problem
