Hi, my 12v seems to have stopped working we have a leisure battery, which the 12v will run off but when we are plugged into mains electric on site it doesn't seem to charge the battery? I'm a first time caravan owner so any help much appreciated, should also say we checked the fuses and they're fine

It may be as simple as a dud battery which will not charge up. Check the battery and see what the reading is, if it's fully charged then it should read 12.7v, if it's less than 12 then it's dead.
If the battery is okay then it could be the 12v distribution panel which should be located in the front under the window.

The battery is fine it's brand new, we've switched with a friends battery to be sure.. Do you mean the distribution panel could have had it? Any idea on the cost to repair?

Might be a silly question but have you turned the charger and 12v supply on? Panels vary and I have to actually turn mine on to "On site" position for the charger to work. The 12v supply also has a separate switch.

Yes I have a panel where the charge meter is that I switch to van, and the switch under the front seat on, still no luck?

sounds like the built in charger swift did have a problem with these a few years back ,find a mobile service engineer and get him to check it

If you can obtain a multi-meter or buy one for under a tenner you can do the following. Remove the leisure battery from it's compartment then connect the multi-meter leads directly to the caravan battery connectors. Switch on in the caravan and then see what amount of current is being distributed to the battery connectors but do not let the positive and negative connectors make contact otherwise you will blow a fuse. Switch off and remove the multi-meter leads. Do exactly the same with your friends caravan then compare the difference in voltages. If your is less than that of your friends then this is evidence that the on board charger is defective and needs replacing.

We had this problem on our 416, there is a fuse inbetween the charger and where ehu comes into the van, it had blown.   Our van was a Abbey Vogue gts 416 2000 model.

To be honest I dont have a clue, my OH found it after this problem arose, all he said that the problem was solved and it was a fuse was inbetween the charger and the electric ehu, sorry cant be of any more help,and cant ask him as he is not in the country at the moment.

We used to have a GTS 415 (90 model) lovely van which we owned for 9 years. We lost 12V on site once, very annoying.

After consulting the wiring diagram and much searching we found a line fuse which had blown.

It was situated under some wooden trunking under the offside front seats. Its location was not shown in the book! Afterwards it was known as the "secret abbey fuse!"  I did update the handbook.

Could yours be similar?
