I had it done by Alko in 2008 and it cost £399, however I am aware that was an introductory offer.
They certainly make any car combination safer than one without any similar technology in that they actually "kill" a developing snake.
That does not make it "a fix for an unsuitable towing vehicle" but it does make using lighter towing vehicles, along with any other towing vehicle, safer.
With car developments going as they are we will have to start following our continental cousins and get over our UK fixation of having only to use heavy vehicles for towing. As said this becomes safer from snaking risks with ATC than without.
Haven't had ATC retro fitted ... but had it on my last three 'vans and now wouldn't be without it. (Factory fitted option on first two and standard fit on the current one)
Still load and tow with the same care as I did with previous non-ATC 'vans but gives you that extra belt and braces in emergency situations.

When you compare the cost of an active system like this to the cost of a passive system like a stabiliser, the ATC looks to be a much better buy, and not a lot more expensive.

Indeed as one only at best adds comfort to the ride and the other adds significant safety.
Stabilisers only "damp" the sway motion and really the providers should be charged with miss-selling the function they provide.
Hi I have had ATC on my last van and found it no problem but as some one else said just gives you that bit more assurance in case, AL-KO have this offer on at the moment http://shop.al-ko.co.uk/products/al-ko-atc.html all the best what ever you decide.
