Hello every one we have just bought our first caravan a 2004 abbey freestyle 4 birth the point I would like some advice on at the moment it has the crystal compact housing for the incoming of the water and I would like to fit the mk2 crystal housing with the screw type filter I have heard that these are not very well made and are prone to cracking is this a common problem please advise thank you Ian.
I agree with the above. We had a lot of problems with the Mk2 crystal housing, cracks etc and a waste of a lot of time and money. I switched to the Ultraflow conversion and after a lot of help on this forum (thanks Davecoaches!) I lengthened the inlet hose to compensate for the lower inlet position. Since then and pretty heavy use, no problems at all! Hope this helps.
thank you for your help I will get the ultraflow conversion I will have to open the hole on the side of the caravan as I have the compact housing at the moment and want the one with the carbon filter would any body know how often you have to change the carbon filter thanks again ian.
The recommended time use for the carbon filter if I remember rightly was 30 continual use, After the original filter that came with the kit was due to be changed I just replaced the cap without a filter in place. After many years caravanning with vans before filters became the norm we never had any problems. I sterilise the system once a year.
