We moved up from TT a couple of years ago. Found the best thing was to visit a local dealer and get some expert advise. They also have caravans that they have taken in as trade ins that make great first time buys, that is the route we took. Also got a 6 month warranty. They are hoping you come back again as you trade up. As mentioned previous if there is damp stear well clear it can be very expensive to fix. We enjoyed the TT but caravaning is even better

Hi Greenhill, we too are hoping to upgrade very soon but from an FC. We love our FC but not the wet packups. Whilst we were away in August it was obvious that the caravaners had an easier setup and packup than us. Not to mention overnight.

As an aside what dates were you at Le Pin Parasol? We were there for two weeks from 3rd August.

Lol Graeme, having looked at your photos you were pitched at the end next to the playground weren't you?! We were there 4-16 on no.92, just beyond the second wash block. If that was you I nearly asked you what it was like to have a fc!

Yes that was us. Didn't want to be next to the park so we've changed our pitch for next year. We didn't really get up to that row apart from visiting friends on pitch 79. Handy for the showers I bet.

You should have come and asked. I'll talk tents and FC's all day. Have you decided what caravan you want?

We're trying to narrow it down. The kids really wanted fixed bunks and 85% of the kerbweight of our car is approx 1300kg even though its towing limits are far higher (but we're not experienced towers). That really narrows it down! It also has to be big enough for us and the kids for a weekend without an awning as that is part of the reason for getting a caravan, if we needed an awning we would still have wet pack up issues. We had looked at some local 2nd hand ones and quite liked a bailey pageant but its heavier than we would prefer. We've not looked at many 5 berths which might be options otherwise it's likely to be a very lightweight 6 berth bailey ranger or adria altea.

Have a look at the Lunar vans. They tend to be lighter than other makes. You might want to look at a Lunar Quasar 525. Its 5 berth and 1300 KG MTPLM.
