There is a small gap above the fridge (and under worktop). When the wind blows a certain way the draught from the vent would freeze a brass monkey. OH has checked fridge fitting snd it is screwed as securely as it can be. Anyone had this problem - and did you solve it? I was thinking of some sort of beading, or any other ideas?
If it's just a few mm undo the screws, use a wedge to lift and re screw. That's what I did although mine never had a draft as the fridge should have so foam insulation fitted around the edges to stop the drafts.

If you have one check outside vent under the metal plate. There should be a small rubber flap over the vent hole that acts as a non return but it only hooks on so i may have droped off.
Hope that makes scense

------------- She may be old, she may be rough around the edges but she is our home from home and we love it.

I'm not sure what you mean - a cover over the outside of the vent? The vent is plastic with no cover. It's a 20 year old van if that helps!

Will look again and try this. No foam insulation evident though - maybe van is too old?
If the gaps not massive then use a coloured silicone, you can get coloured sealant for laminate floors too. I would avoid expanding foam like the plague, it's so unpredictable and it doesn't really have a great finish when cut back, plus if you get it wrong it'll end up everywhere ruining your fridge, cupboards and carpets.
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
If you only have the one flue vent, then do not seal around the inside of the fridge as it needs air from inside the caravan to burn properly on gas. If you have two external vents then the air comes in through the bottom of the two rather than from inside the caravan and the fridge would normally be sealed.
Inadequate ventilation can produce dangerous CO gas.
A 20 year old caravan will probably only have the "top" flue vent.
Our abbey is 20 years old. Fridge has top and bottom vents and a separate flue vent. Also there is no evidence of any attempt to seal the space behind the fridge from the caravan interior. There are gaps above and below the fridge front panel. I think that was typical construction of the day. It can blow a draught in some conditions.
It hasn't bothered me enough to do anything about it yet, our awning does a good job of stopping draughts.
If I was going to do something I think I'd be looking to use pipe insulation and some extra wood or metal to hold it in place. It will turn into a big construction project, knowing me :-)
Can you put a bead of sealant over the gap and then fit a piece of plastic trim over that to finish the job off. Diy shops often have a selection of plastic and wood trims.
Definately need to do something as draught can be bad. We dont always use awning and I imagine in the winter it will be worse!
I think sealant will do it.
There is only one vent at fridge but we dont intend ever using gas (never have in any of our other caravans) to run fridge so not worried about that - thanks for that piece of advice anyway, wouldnt have realised had I been intending using gas for fridge (and might be useful for other people to know).
