We went to the motorhome and caravan show at Newark yesterday, whilst most of them were presented nicely there were a few caravans that hadn't been cleaned up and in sale condition.
Inside some were dirty one of them was filthy and had cracks on the front as if it had had a bash and by the look of some of the trim it appeared it had been bodged in the past.
The sales man said it hadn't been for a valet when I said it needed more than just a valet he said 'well it's an old van' it was, but they were asking far more than it was worth.
I wouldn't have taken it to the show in that condition, I can't understand why they don't at least clean them up a bit.
I don't know about anyone else but I would be really wary about buying anything from this sort of company if this is where they set their standards and I certainly wouldn't let them anywhere near my caravan, they had leaflets inside the van advertising services and repairs.
I would expect to see a couple of vans in a "work in progress" condition at their home showroom but to take them to a show is pretty appalling in my view.

What difference does it make? To fully valet & polish up a caravan takes about half a day. Thats not doing any major repairs or replacing faulty appliances though or even servicing it. Its to the seller's advantage to tart up 'vans before putting on sale to fool the buyer they are getting something better than it really is. If the 'van is dirty but otherwise sound it will sell at a lower price.
I saw those vans too. Couldn't believe they would bring them like that. I also noticed inside some of them, there was a lot of damage to trims. And when you look at the prices they were asking.................... Nicest van I saw was a Hymer Nova 390
When we went out looking at cars at the start of the year we went round a few car sale all nice a clean then some places the car looked like they had just be brought and put up for sale without looking at them. some even had old crisp packets, fag box's and papers in them and they were asking same prices as the other garages
safe to say we didnt buy from there!
