Hi all
We have to renew our caravan insurance once again. The quote for renewal from caravan club seems really high. We have 2011 Unicorn Barcelona and want the best deal for it, but also peace of mind with everything covered.
We are planning an extended tour of Europe next spring.
We are assuming that we have to insure separately for that or is there a policy that includes overseas travel?
Any advice will be gratefully received... x

Happiness is not having what you want
BUT
wanting what you have.
You can always get cheaper insurance, But is the cover upto it?
Price comes down so can the customer service and quality of the policy.
You dont want to find they refuse a claim because you only have 2 wheel clamps on your caravan where the policy states a minimum of 3 even though its only got 2 wheels.
One insurer that always springs to mind is E&L nicknamed E&HELL on more than one forum.
we have just re-insured but gone with cover4caravans, him indoors - is quite meticulous about insurance and they bettered most policies for a very fair price.
worth a quote!

Towergate is another excellent option and can be recommended from personal experience with a claim. I think most policies continental cover is standard for 90 days, but this can be extended.
you seem to be getting caravan insurance & breakdown cover mixed up. caravan insurance will only cover you for damage to the caravan much like home insurance, so your caravan insurance should be operative any where & at least in the EU.
for caravan insurance I would recommend C&CC or The CC
for breakdown cover in the EU I have no hesitation in recommending The CC's Red Pennant for towing abroad as they will cover almost any eventuality where as car based breakdown can have sever limitations if your tow car is incapacitated particularly if it happens when you are not actually towing the caravan as this could result in the caravan being left behind if the car has to be brought back to the UK by recovery truck .Or if the recovery is more than the market value of the car neither car or caravan will be repatriated
