That was because there was a difference in the price of the two vehicles as the first car tested had the front brake detectectors fitted and the second one didn't. However, Jeremy Clarkson thought both vehicles had the sensors fitted but came unstuck when he collided with the second vehicle but that was just humourous entertainment for the programme. He's can't be that daft surely....or can he?
I have drove the new Volvo V60 with the front brake sensors fitted on a rally field and when I drove towards the hedge the vehicle stopped dead without having to even touch the brake pedal. Remarkable technology.
I think Mercedes where the first too fit this, unfortunately in front of press in a smoke filled tunnel, the car slammed into another car, like the Volvo and wrote the car off. Someone forgot to turn it on lol.
Every new lorry by law should be fitted with that system.
